The Bristol Law School was represented by two teams. The first team consisted of Sophie Freiin Von Ungern-Sternberg (Second Year Law and French Student) and Pascal Ihle (Erasmus Law Student). The second team consisted of Max Wilkinson (First Year Law and German Student) and Martin Ossowski (Erasmus Law Student). The mooters had to argue in German a case on German Civil Law. Both teams reached the semi-finals competing against Oxford, UCL and Warwick and Exeter teams. Sophie and Pascal got through the semi-finals and won the competition against Oxford.
The participation of the students was generously funded by the Law School. Sofia Galani, Lecturer in Law and Mooting Academic Advisor, and Dr. Jule Mulder, Lecturer in Law, supported the students in preparing for the moot competition. At Bristol, we are committed to ensuring that all students studying on the various Law programmes have access to extra-curricular activities and receive support in developing both academically and professionally.
The LLB with languages and LLB with Study Abroad programmes have been successfully led by Professor Paula Giliker, Director of European Legal Studies and Study Abroad, and have been attracting students of the highest calibre interested in combining law and languages or studies abroad. The Law School has strong links and student exchange programmes with universities in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia and Colombia.
Pascal Ilhe (Erasmus Law Student) said: ‘It was a great experience and I want to thank Sofia Galani so much for her support as well as Jule Mulder and the Executive Office team. You all did a great job!’
