A group of staff, students and invited visitors, had a tour of the new school site and saw construction progress on Wednesday 1 February.

The most recent tour of 1 Trinity Quay - new home to Bristol Dental School from Autumn 2023 - proved really popular with a range of staff from across the University, as well as students and invited guests.

Small groups were given tailored tours of the new building throughout the afternoon of 1 February, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. A few highlights included seeing the dental bays taking shape with some of the chairs in-situ and the chance to see how bright and spacious these areas are, as well as the many social spaces and places to collaborate.

Students showed great enthusiasm towards the two way assessment room, the circular pods in the Clinical Skills Laboratory and around having an in-house sterilisation area so no need for instruments to head off-site for decontamination!

Hannah, UBDSS society student president, said: "I was lucky enough to visit the site in December too and it’s fantastic to see the changes in just two months. The highlight was seeing the state-of-the-art new equipment in the bays and skills lab."

The next tours will take place in April. By then, the space will be even closer to completion with much of the furniture in place. Work continues on celebratory opening events in September to mark this transformative project and in welcoming our staff, students and patients in the Autumn.
