Causal inference

Leonardo Grilli and Carla Rampichini, Professors of Statistics at the University of Florence, have published extensively on methods for causal inference, multilevel modelling and duration modelling, with applications in educational research. The presentations below were given at the university of Bristol in June 2011.

Training Sessions

  • Introduction to causal inference via potential outcomes (PDF, 371kB)
  • Propensity scores for the estimation of average treatment effects in observational studies (PDF, 516kB)
  • Causal inference with non compliance (PDF, 392kB)
  • Causal inference through principal stratification: basic ideas and an application to the effect of university studies on job opportunities (PDF, 170kB)

Research Seminars

  • Evaluating the effects of university grants using regression discontinuity designs (PDF, 435kB)
  • Modelling partial compliance through copulas in a principal stratification framework (PowerPoint, 1.9 mb)
