Centres for Doctoral Training

The school of chemistry hosts two flagship EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training: Technology Enhanced Chemical Synthesis (TECS) and the Centre for Doctoral Training in Aerosol Science.

PhD studentships are funded for four years, and training includes technical and transferable skills, as well as world-leading research activities.

The centres bring together diverse areas of expertise to train scientists and engineers with the skills, knowledge and confidence to tackle today’s evolving issues, and future challenges.

They also provide a supportive and exciting environment for students, create new working cultures, build relationships between teams in universities and forge lasting links with industry.

Research

Research in the school is organised into five themes; synthesis and catalysis, chemical and synthetic biology, computational chemistry, theory and dynamics, functional molecules and materials and environment and energy, covering a broad range of research areas.

I enjoy using the world-class research facilities. My supervisor is also really friendly which has helped create a positive environment for me.
