E2/FMM Crucible: Molecular Innovation for Green Revolution - 18th May

4 May 2023

We would like to formally invite you to join us at this E2/FMM event, for a stimulating hour or two discussing problem-solving using research.

This event will see, in a ~5 min presentation, each speaker (from Chemistry and beyond) pitch their idea and project their vision, linking their fundamental research interest/topic to solving a problem of societal impact.

The topics, from initial discussions with colleagues, will touch upon self-destructing solventsbioplastics, breathing protocellsdeuterated ruminantsgreen energy vectorsperpetual batteriesdinosaurs knee joints…

If these colleagues had their way, we would be curing cancers, cleaning up plastic mess, feeding COto bacteria, BBQing with H2, and sucking water out of thin air…

Each of them will promise to rigorously defend their vision. But would you be persuaded? You will be the judge and you will also be joined by SoC PG students and PDRAs. We also plan to invite colleagues from DREI (formerly RED) to discuss IAA funding, and representatives from CECC, Cabot, BCI, and other Schools.

Time and Location: 2-4 pm, Thurs 18th May, Chemistry Coffee Lounge (refreshments served)
