Life beyond the classroom

University isn't only about lectures and coursework. It's an opportunity to find your own way of life in a new place.

Discover a new hobby

Whether you’re starting a new hobby or nurturing an old one, there are plenty of fun activities to do in Bristol.

Four climbing centres, paddle boarding at Baltic Wharf and Pottery After Dark are just the tip of the iceberg.

We have all the facilities you might expect from a modern city, but it’s our specialist venues that set us apart:

The Wave

Bristol's inland surf destination

Circomedia

A leading circus and theatre school

Live sports

Bristol is home to a multitude of professional sports teams, and we have many large venues across the city. There are two Football League clubs, a cricket club and a Premiership Rugby team.

Many other team and individual sports have thriving clubs in Bristol, including baseball, basketball and American football.

Water sports are very popular in Bristol, and there are several boat clubs set up on the river.

Night life

Bristol has its fair share of bars, night clubs, cosy pubs and hidden speakeasies. But there's so much more on offer too: a wealth of independent music venues, theatres, comedy clubs and more.

There are endless opportunities to hear live music of every genre, from small indie bands at Crofters Rights, to classical concerts at St George's.

There are plenty of interesting things to do beyond the usual or expected. Board game cafés, roller blading venues, interactive art installations – there's always something going on, no matter your interests.
