Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow Malu Villela Garcia is instrumental in securing Bristol access to a share of £33m to support social enterprises tackling inequality.
7 February 2020
Bristol is to receive investment from Local Access thanks to Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow Malu Villela Garcia’s sustained research and engagement with networks within the city, and the University Of Bristol’s Inclusive Economy Initiative. Local Access, a partnership between Access – The Foundation for Social Investment, and Big Society Capital, will provide money for six places nationally: Bradford; Bristol; Gainsborough; Great Manchester (Bolton, Oldham, Stockport and Wigan); Hartlepool, Redcar & Cleveland; and Southwark in London. They aim ‘to support the development of stronger, more resilient and sustainable social economies in disadvantaged places’.
