The Uncertain Space - Secret Gardens: Exploring Pathways Through Our Collections
The Uncertain Space:
Secret Gardens: Exploring Pathways Through Our Collections
Launched in the summer of 2023 by the University of Bristol, the Uncertain Space is a virtual museum, enabling a unique way to experience artefacts from many different collections in one space.
The Uncertain Space functions in the same way as any other museum with different collections, a programme of exhibitions and with sustainability built in. The only difference is that it is exists within a virtual space, and is accessible using a smartphone, web browser or Virtual Reality headset.
The first exhibition at the virtual university museum, Secret Gardens: Exploring Pathways Through Our Collections, has been curated by a group of young Bristolians aged between 11-18.
Each area of the exhibition is devoted to a different public artwork found across the university campus, and the objects on display reflect issues including climate change, activism, and virtual connections. These objects come from many different university collections including: Archaeology, Anatomy, Botanic Gardens, Earth Sciences Collection, Special Collections, Theatre Collection and Public Art.
