A Case Study of Bristol City Funds
Part of the 2023 FESTIVAL OF SOCIAL SCIENCE
What’s on offer?
This event will discuss inequality in Bristol and the potential for local solutions to tackle social problems like inequality. We will focus on Bristol City Funds, operated by Bristol & Bath Regional Capital (BBRC), as a Case Study of an innovative initiative that is working towards reducing inequality, providing opportunity, and promoting prosperity in Bristol through social impact investment. Join this event if you want to take part in thinking about new and innovative solutions to tackle inequality and make Bristol into a fair, healthy, and sustainable city.
What’s it about?
This event is focused on new and innovative approaches to address inequality and promote prosperity through social impact investment at a local level. The UK is among the most unequal societies in the developed world. While much of the discussion on what can be done about inequality is focused on large-scale national policy, less is known about the potential for tackling inequality at a local city level.
Who’s leading the event?
Marii Paskov, Lecturer in Social Policy David Sweeting, Senior Lecturer in Urban Studies, Jari Moate, Investment Director, Georgina Cremin, Impact Investment Associate, Edward Tellwright, British Business Bank
