Science includes me

We are committed to making the Faculty of Science a place where all staff and students can thrive and achieve their potential, overcoming barriers they may face due to Protected Characteristics such as race, gender, religion, age, disability, sexuality, gender reassignment, or other barriers.

Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Faculty Committee sets the agenda for and makes progress on EDI initiatives.

There are university-wide procedures in place so staff and students can report incidents of discrimination. A wealth of useful information can be found here:-

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Staff and students should use the Report and Support tool if they are subject to, or witness incidents of discrimination. Capturing specific data in this way, helps us direct support and assistance where it is really needed:-

Report and Support

I have always been a strong supporter of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion as I believe it is the key to generate better science, to promote positivity, productivity, mutual respect and fairness in the work place. It has been increasingly recognised an essential aspect of DEI missing is the voice of colleagues from Black, Asian and minority ethnic background and their fair opportunities to succeed. I am very pleased that the Faculty of Science has devoted very great amount of effort in this aspect of EDI and I am very proud to be part of the team.
