QETLabs & QECDT attend Blue Dot Festival

10 August 2023

Another fantastic year at this science/music festival held at Jodrell Bank Observatory on 20-23 July.

The family-friendly Bluedot Festival showcases science and technology from around the country, with around 30 exhibitor stands dotted throughout the festival. The QET Labs team took along some of our trusty demos, and interacted with the 15,000 festival-goers throughout the weekend. Despite this year's festival being the muddiest ever, the team kept spirits high and engaged with guests of all ages at our exhibitor stand, where we showed off our PiQuantum and Optical Jigsaw demos and displayed some of our chips under the microscope. One family mentioned that they had visited our stand at Bluedot last year, and on their travel up from Brighton spent the car journey talking about our demos and hoping we'd be there again! Luckily we were, and this time they brought the whole family.

When we weren't at our stand, there was comedy to watch and music to enjoy, with headliners including Grace Jones, Pavement, Roisin Murphy and Max Richter. One highlight was the giant whack-a-mole, which we made good use of (see photo above!).

A huge thank you to our volunteers: Ben, Beth, Dario, Hobbs, Holly, James C, James M, Meagan, Mike, Ollie, Sam, and a particular thank you to Sorrel for driving the van (including being towed out on Sunday!) and cooking up a delicious breakfast each day.
