Professor David Gordon Appointed as an affiliate of the African Centre of Excellence for Inequality Research (ACEIR)

The BPI are delighted to announce that Professor David Gordon has been appointed as an Affiliate of the African Centre of Excellence for Inequality Research (ACEIR)

Established in 2018, the African Centre of Excellence for Inequality Research (ACEIR) is one of the 13 centres of excellence of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA).

ACEIR is based in three African Universities; The hub and South Africa node are convened by the University of Cape Town, while the Ghana node is convened by the University of Ghana, Legon, and the Kenya node is convened by the University of Nairobi.

The research group aim to contribute to multidimensional and interdisciplinary understanding of inequality within each country, in order to highlight how those inequalities can be overcome, both regionally and globally, linking those processes to the international measures such as the Sustainable Development Goals.

ACEIR’s research programme addresses themes which include:

Different projects within these themes are undertaken by the research teams at the Centre’s nodes in Ghana, Kenya and South Africa.

Professor Gordon, Professiorial Research Fellow in Social Justice at the UNiversity of Bristol, and Director od the Bristol Poverty Institute, has been appointed in the first cohort of five affiliates, researchers from institutions outside of the ACEIR nodes who actively collaborate with ACEIR on projects.
