Jerry joined the University in 2014 and was a larger-than-life character: he always put a smile on his colleagues’ faces and was often seen with his Bronco hat in the corridors of the Physics Building.
He was always willing to take part in group discussions and used to get the staff groaning when he’d stand up and go on at great lengths and often wander off the subject.
Music was his passion: he enjoyed busking with his guitar and he loved to sing (which he did for us in the tea room at Christmas time), and he played a couple of gigs in the Physics foyer to raise money for Red Nose Day.
Jerry enjoyed his 'man toys' in the form of electric scooters and bikes which he often rode to work. He was known to offer his colleagues a test drive.
He was a frequent visitor to Clevedon, and had recently purchased a touring caravan in which he spent many enjoyable holidays in Wales.
He will be sadly missed by us all.
