The University of Bristol’s LGBT+ Staff Network won the Business Award for LGBT+ at the 2019 Bristol Diversity Awards on Saturday.

The awards seek to recognise and celebrate people and organisations that embrace all areas of diversity and equality.

The Business Award recognises any small or large business who has made an outstanding contribution to Bristol in the field of equality and diversity.

LGBT+ Staff Committee member Amelia Pereira attended the awards with members of the LGBT+ Staff Network.

Suzanne Doyle, Co-Chair LGBT+ Staff Network, said: “I feel very proud to win this award and be recognised for all the hard work that the University of Bristol LGBT+ Staff Network Committee do (I couldn't do it without them) and a big thank you to my Co-Chair Tony Joannou, and previous Co-Chair Nick Skelton.

“All of the committee are volunteers and do so much work to help make the University a more inclusive organisation.

“I also want to thank the continued support from the network members in attending meetings, events, socials and helping to make the University a more supportive place for all LGBT+ Staff and students.”

The LGBT+ Staff Network is here to support you in your time at the University and help to create an LGBT+ community by listening to your ideas and work with the University to make changes - whether that be through creating inclusive policies, supporting Pride, creating more inclusive toilets or ensuring LGBT+ visibility across the University.
