Philip Ison Cawley, 1953-2018

Philip Ison Cawley

2 May 2018

Philip Ison Cawley, a cleaner at the University’s Langford site, has passed away at the age of 64. Gemma Whitwell, Senior Facilities Manager at Langford, offers a remembrance.

Philip, or as some will remember him with affection, ’Roadrunner‘, started working at Langford as a cleaner in September 2013. He was an integral part of the team who took pride in his job, while at the same time spreading a little bit of happiness and amusement across the site when whistling while he worked.

Until joining the Site Services Team at Langford, Philip dedicated his life to dairy farming, predominantly in the Congresbury area, and in raising his two daughters with his wife Jane. He was also a keen bee keeper.

Philip used to turn the stomachs of his colleagues at Langford by telling them that he was off home ‘for a breakfast of curried fish’. His sense of humour, enthusiasm for life and never-waning positivity will be strongly missed by all on the Langford site.

Philip passed away on 13 April. His funeral took place on Saturday 28 April at St Andrew’s Church, Congresbury.
