Back for its second year, the University was proud to be one of the sponsors of the Expo and engage with local businesses and the community.

The Bristol African Caribbean Expo, held at the Trinity Centre on 10 March, highlighted opportunities for collaboration across the University.

Rebecca Scott, Procurement Manager and co-Chair of the University’s BAME Staff Advisory Group, discussed procurement options while Tom Sperlinger, Academic Lead for Engagement, talked about our new Temple Quarter campus. There were also presentations on the various routes into study here, information about career opportunities at the University and entrepreneurial support available via SetSquared.

The expo was organised by local broadcast journalist Primrose Granville with attending businesses including St Pauls Carnival, Sickle Cell Bristol, the Reach Society and the Malcolm X Centre.

Michelle Alexis, Student Administration Manager and co-Chair of the University’s BAME Staff Advisory Group, said: “Lots of next steps have been planned and strong connections made with Bristol’s SMEs and entrepreneurs.

“We are keen to deliver procurement talks and employment workshops in the community so we can break potential barriers in our processes and applications. It was a brilliant day and it was great to see huge interest in all areas of the University.”
