The Research without Borders festival, being held in At-Bristol Science Centre on Monday 9 May, promises to give an insight into the future – be it through exploring novel research, attracting potential employees or building new partnerships and participating in live debates.

Interactive demonstrations and posters showcasing different themes of research will cover subjects such as health, environment and sustainability, socioeconomics and culture, and using data to solve problems.

Visitors to the exhibition are invited to sketch out their thoughts on what Bristol will look like in 100 years on an interactive map, in addition to wider discussions about the grand challenges facing society.

'Digital Living' will be the subject of an interactive discussions in which academics will facilitate conversations about the past and future of digital technology and the impact it will have on our lives.

Dr Oksana Kasyutich, Manager of the Bristol Doctoral College, said: "Universities play such an important role in modern society, especially in terms of new knowledge and innovative thinking. We hope businesses from across the region will take this opportunity to see what fascinating and forward-thinking research our doctoral researchers are doing.

"It will also be a perfect opportunity to discuss how businesses can work with the University to come up with innovative solutions, form new partnerships, and even scout out future employees."

Research without Borders is being held in At-Bristol from 2.30pm on Monday 9 May. A networking and wine reception runs from 4.30pm to 5.30pm, followed by the final of the Three Minute Thesis - a competition challenging postgraduate researchers to present their 80,000-word theses in just three minutes.
