Bristol medics receive NICE Scholarships

Rachel Squires and Stephen O'Brien

25 February 2015

Two trainees in the School of Clinical Sciences have been awarded a prestigious scholarship by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

Rachel Squires and Stephen O’Brien, both trainees in obstetrics and gynaecology, are among 10 recipients of the 2015-16 NICE Scholarship, which involves a full programme of workshops and masterclasses on a range of skills and topics, the chance to network with practitioners and other NICE Fellows and Scholars, and tickets and accommodation for the NICE conference in October.

NICE’s aims are to help Scholars become ‘better able to understand healthcare regulatory issues and become skilled in driving a quality improvement change agenda both locally and nationally’.

This is the first time that two people from the same department have been awarded the scholarship in the same year.
