Botanic Garden signs Kyoto partnership

l-r: Professor Minoru Tamura and Professor Simon Hiscock

29 September 2014

The University’s Botanic Garden hosted plant science researchers from Kyoto University last week, as part of a Life Sciences workshop supported by the Bristol-Kyoto Partnership.

The group toured the Botanic Garden and were fascinated by the range of plants and displays; they were particularly interested in the Angiosperm Phylogeny display, which charts the genetic relationships between flowering plants.

The visit included the signing of a partnership agreement between the two university Botanic Gardens represented by Bristol’s Garden Director, Professor Simon Hiscock, and Professor Minoru Tamura of Kyoto. The agreement promises a close working relationship and shared research.
