The University of Bristol is a partner in a new programme, backed by the UK’s Aerospace Technology Institute, to bring promising wing design, manufacture and assembly technologies closer to the marketplace.

The £30-million VIEWS (Validation and Integration of Manufacturing Enablers for Future Wing Structures) programme is led by GKN Aerospace. Bristol’s Department of Aerospace Engineering will receive funding for postdoctoral researchers to work on the programme.

The VIEWS team comprises 13 academic and industrial partners including several other UK universities and the National Composites Centre, which is owned by the University of Bristol.

For details of the project and a full list of the partner institutions, see the GKN Aerospace press release.
