Members of the public are invited to a reading by Stephen which will be followed by a discussion about his novel. Audience members will be invited to ask the writer questions and join in a discussion based on their experiences of reading the book.

For this year’s Big Read every first-year student was given a free copy of Pigeon English, which was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2011. A series of events followed where students could discuss and take part in activities based on their shared understanding of the book.

The Big Read is part of the Man Booker Prize Foundation Universities Initiative, which seeks to encourage first year university students to read, engage with and appreciate the very best of contemporary fiction.

Pigeon English tells the story of Harrison Okupu - an 11-year-old Ghanaian immigrant living on a council estate in London - as he attempts to solve the murder of a local young boy.

This is the last event in the series and is free and open to all.
