Sheena Heyman, 1938-2014

9 December 2014

Sheena Heyman, a cleaner based at Old Park Hill from 1996 to 2004, has died. Liz Lynch, Site Services Manager, offers an appreciation.

Sheena joined Site Services as a cleaner in 1996, after taking redundancy from Mardons the printers.

Sheena was a well-known and a well-liked character at her work base in Old Park Hill, always chatty and interested in the day-to-day goings on. She always had an opinion and liked to be part of the mix.

Sheena was a hardworking and very-kind hearted individual who would give you her last penny if you asked, and she was devastated when, following a deterioration in her health, she was forced to retire in 2004 and take life at a slower pace.

Although Sheena had lived in Bristol for most of her life, there was no hiding her Scottish roots: she retained a strong Scottish accent and remained proudly Scottish. She loved a gathering and a knees-up, and enjoyed nothing better than a good night out.

Sheena sadly passed away on 24 November 2014, after a long illness. She will be sorely missed by her husband Alan and her four children, and also by her colleagues at the University.

Sheena’s funeral took place on Tuesday 9 December at Bristol South Crematorium.
