His Excellency Mr Rolando Drago Rodriguez, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to the UK, visited Bristol last week.

As part of the visit, the Ambassador and Mr Sebastián Lorenzini Aracena, Consul of Chile in London, came to the University to meet senior staff. These included Professor Nick Lieven, Pro Vice-Chancellor International; Professor Tim Gallagher, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Professor Wendy Larner, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law; and Professor Ronald Hutton, Associate Dean and International Director of the Faculty of Arts.

The Ambassador also met a group of Chilean postgraduates for an informal chat about their experience at Bristol (where there are currently over 30 Chilean students). The postgraduates told the Ambassador about their place in the city’s Chilean community, which is significant and dates back many decades.
