The University of Bristol’s Hospitality Team picked up the Silver Award in the Best Food Outlet category at the first South West Fairtrade Business Awards on 8 March.

Three members of the team, Annabel Hurst, Linda James and Fred Quinn, attended the Awards Ceremony at Colston Hall where they were presented with their award by chef and entrepreneur Levi Roots of Reggae Reggae Sauce and Dragons' Den fame.

Roots talked to the audience of 160 business leaders from across the region about his recent visit to Fairtrade cocoa farmers in Ghana, and how inspired he had been by the difference Fairtrade makes to communities.

The University's Hospitality Services promoted and celebrated Fairtrade Fortnight (25 February to 10 March) across the five catered halls and all the cafés this year. Both Hurst and James are trained Fairtrade Ambassadors.
