Bertie Gregory, who is currently studying Zoology at the University, has particular interests in North American wildlife and spent the last two university summers capturing them on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

Bertie’s love for wildlife is also evident closer to home. Although he spends his summers following the huge mammals of North America, he spends most of the year photographing the wildlife which inhabits British cities. This interest in urban wildlife has stemmed from his involvement in the 2020VISION project, as one of 20 young UK photographers. The project aims to engage and enthuse the general public by using innovative visual media to convey the fact that healthy ecosystems mean healthy people.

Bertie, said: "I have always been fascinated by wildlife and I channel this passion into wildlife photography both under and over the water.

“Studying zoology at the University has helped expand my understanding of both the animals I’m trying to photograph and the habitats within which they live. Modules in animal behaviour have helped me get inside the heads of my subjects so I can better predict what they’ll do next.”

2020VISION’s theatre show is now touring the country and will be coming to Bristol later this year. The date for this evening of spell-binding imagery, music and personal anecdotes from the photographic team is soon to be confirmed.
