The team of British scientists and engineers, which is led by Professor Martin Siegert and includes Professor Martyn Tranter of the School of Geographical Sciences, is fulfilling a 16 year ambition to drill down into the lake. They hope to find signs of life in the water and clues to the Earth’s past climate in the mud at the lake floor.
