Bristol ChemLabS and Learning Science partner with Cengage Learning

Bristol ChemLabS and Learning Science Ltd have formed a partnership with Cengage Learning to develop a new online version of the award-winning Chemistry LabSkills software which will bring the very latest e-learning innovations in practical science-based interactive learning and skills development to chemistry students all around the world.

Initially launched in 2008 to support the UK A-level Chemistry market, versions of Chemistry LabSkills are now used by thousands of schools and universities in over 30 countries worldwide. Bill Heslop, Director of Learning Science, said: ‘Cengage Learning is one of the world's most successful science publishers and a leader in electronic publishing. We are extremely excited to be working with them on taking LabSkills to the next level’.

Cengage Learning is a leading provider of innovative teaching, learning and research solutions for the academic, professional and library markets worldwide with brands including Brooks/Cole, Course Technology, Delmar, Gale, Heinle, South-Western and Wadsworth.

Learning Science Ltd is a learning technology company creating innovative systems and resources for science education. Established in 2007, the company has rapidly gained a reputation for delivering high-quality resources at the forefront of educational technology. Learning Science is involved in all the main areas of science and at all levels, from primary and secondary to undergraduate, graduate and professional. It is responsible for creating and commercialising LabSkills in partnership with Bristol ChemLabS.

Bristol ChemLabS, based in the School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol, is the UK’s only Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning dedicated to practical chemistry and was established in 2005 following substantial investment from HEFCE and the University of Bristol. Professor Nick Norman, ChemLabS Chief Executive, said: ‘ChemLabS is delighted with the deal involving Cengage Learning and Learning Science.
