The University has just received the results of the 2011 National Student Survey (NSS) and I am pleased to inform you that in all seven question categories our scores have improved compared with 2010.
At institutional level our students have expressed the following (compared with 2010):
- Teaching on my course – 90% are satisfied or very satisfied (up by 1%)
- Assessment and feedback – 66% are satisfied or very satisfied (up by 8%)
- Academic support – 79% are satisfied or very satisfied (up by 4%)
- Organisation and management – 81% are satisfied or very satisfied (up by 3%)
- Learning resources – 84% are satisfied or very satisfied (up by 5%)
- Personal development – 80 per cent are satisfied or very satisfied (up by 2%)
- Overall satisfaction – 87 per cent are satisfied or very satisfied (up by 3%)
There is, of course, still work to be done to continue to improve the student experience, especially in the area of assessment and feedback, but these scores, which are the highest we have ever achieved, reflect a great deal of hard work and dedication by colleagues across the Institution, for which I would like to pay tribute and offer my congratulations.
