European Ombudsman visits University of Bristol

The European Ombudsman, Professor Nikiforos Diamandouros, will deliver the 2011 Jean Monnet Lecture at the University of Bristol’s School of Law this evening (Thursday 5 May) at 6 pm in the Old Council Chamber, Wills Memorial Building.

The title of the lecture, chaired by Professor Panos Koutrakos from the University’s School of Law, is 'Encouraging ethical behaviour by civil servants: the role of the Ombudsman'.

Professor Diamandouros has been European Ombudsman since 1 April 2003. From 1998 to 2003, he was the first National Ombudsman of Greece. He has also been Professor of Comparative Politics at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Athens since 1993 (currently on leave). From 1995 to 1998, he served as Director and Chairman of the Greek National Centre for Social Research (EKKE).
