Bristol graduate scoops Oscar

Andrew Ruhemann, a graduate of the Department of Drama: Theatre, Film, Television, won an Academy Award this week for his short animated film, The Lost Thing.

Andrew Ruhemann, a 1985 graduate of the Department of Drama: Theatre, Film, Television, won an Academy Award this week for his short animated film, The Lost Thing.

The story, based on an illustrated book by Shaun Tan, is set in Australia in the near future and concerns a boy who discovers a strange creature that seems to be a combination of an industrial boiler, a crab, and an octopus.

Ruhemann previously worked as an animator on Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and promotional videos for Damon Albarn’s ‘virtual’ band, Gorillaz.
