Professor Martyn Tranter in the School of Geographical Sciences is to receive the Polar Medal for his numerous field seasons in the Arctic and Antarctic.

Professor Martyn Tranter in the School of Geographical Sciences is to receive the Polar Medal ‘for extreme human endeavour against the appalling weather and conditions that exist in the Arctic and Antarctic’. Professor Tranter has spent many field seasons in the Arctic and Antarctic.

He will receive his Medal from the Queen at Buckingham Palace in March.
