Message from Students’ Union Officer Team

13 December 2010

In the wake of recent developments in the higher education debate, the Students’ Union has invited the University to participate in a 'question time'-style, themed forum.

Dear Students and Staff

The past couple of weeks have seen momentous events surrounding the future of Higher Education and there can be no doubt that these changes will affect not only those attending university but the whole population. As part of understanding the impact and context both nationally and locally, the Students’ Union has invited the University to participate in a 'question time'-style, themed forum.

On the panel will be:

  • Professor Eric Thomas, Vice-Chancellor
  • Professor David Clarke, Deputy Vice-Chancellor
  • Andrew Hollingsworth, Vice-President Education
The event, which will be chaired by the President of the Students’ Union and the Chair of University Council, will take place on Wednesday 15 December 2010 at 5.15 pm to 6.30 pm in the Anson Rooms at the University of Bristol Students’ Union.

This is a great opportunity to hear first hand from leaders within the University and the Students’ Union about the impact of current and potential changes to the Higher Education sector.

In the context of the current environment within the sector, the event will be themed to cover as broad a range of areas as possible and we would greatly welcome questions for the panellists to be submitted along the following themes: Quality of the student experience; Quality of education; Widening access. You can do this by emailing: ubu-forum@bristol.ac.uk before midday on Wednesday 15th December.

Please note there will be seating for up to 500 people within the Anson Rooms and overflow will be provided into AR2 and Bar 100 with a feed of the live coverage.

We hope you can join us on Wednesday for what is set to be an informative and important forum.

Yours,
University of Bristol Students’ Union Officer Team
