Honorary degree for Professor Hogan

Professor John Hogan of the Department of Engineering Mathematics has been awarded an honorary degree by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), in recognition of his work in nonlinear dynamics and its applications.

The degree ‘Doctor Honoris Causa’ will be conferred on 29 May at a ceremonial meeting of the University Senate in Budapest.

Professor Hogan is a member of the Bristol Centre for Applied Nonlinear Mathematics and Director of the Bristol Centre for Complexity Sciences. His research interests include the dynamics of piecewise linear systems and their applications in engineering.

BME is the most significant University of Technology in Hungary and is one of the oldest technological institutions in the world, having been founded in 1782.
