Jean Tyler 1931-2010

13 April 2010

Jean Tyler, who retired as Leading Cleaner at the Vet School in 1998, passed away in early April. Liz Lynch, Site Services Manager, remembers someone 'enthusiastic about life... kind, loyal and a friend to many'.

Jean Tyler commenced at the University on 22 April 1985 and soon found her niche as Leading Cleaner at the Vet School, Southwell Street, where she remained until her retirement in July 1998. She carried on working as a casual in the Vet School, helping out with catering for functions and events well into her late 70s, and only stopped in recent years owing to the onset of illness.

Jean was a bundle of energy and liked nothing better than to roll her sleeves up and 'get stuck in'. She liked to be 'on the go' and often held down several jobs at one time. She was enthusiastic about life, full of positive energy and a joy to have as an employee. She was also kind, loyal and a friend to many.

Liz Lynch, Site Services Manager, said: "Jean's enthusiasm and capacity for work was boundless, she loved being in the thick of things and was always willing to get stuck in to any task.  Jean was generous and warm and made many friends whilst working at the University, her friendly and bubbly personality was infectious, and you could not help but be inspired by her energy for life."

Jean passed away after a long illness on 1 April 2010 and will be sadly missed by all those who were lucky enough to know her.

Her funeral will take place on Thursday 15 April at 11.30am at Bristol South Crematorium.
