Issue 10 of Subtext, the University’s award-winning magazine, is published today [Monday 26 October].

Although originally conceived as an in-house magazine, it will also appeal to a more general readership and to anyone curious about the lives and work of academics and support staff at Bristol.

Issue 10 features a selection of people and stories from across the University, including:

  • Professor Vieda Skultans’ flight from – and return to – her native Latvia, and the ancestral voices and tales that have traveled with her;
  • Arguments and a little bit of repartee from philosophers Professor James Ladyman and Dr Jimmy Doyle;
  • Professor Anthony Hollander’s account from the front lines of intensive media coverage;
  • The wrecks and dives (in the maritime sense) that make up Dr Kimberly Monk’s field work.

Copies of Subtext are distributed to staff with their payslips. Further copies are available on request. If you would like to be added to the mailing list, please contact the editors (Nick Riddle or Hilary Brown). All issues of Subtext are also available online in PDF format.
