A team from the Henry Wellcome Laboratories for Integrative Neuroscience and Endocrinology has developed a new way of collecting blood samples, making for greater consistency, simpler procedures and less discomfort for the patient.

Many blood tests require multiple samples over a period of time, which when done manually can be unpleasant and can lead to errors. The new, automated system developed by Dr David Henley and his colleagues at Bristol takes samples at regular intervals without repeated insertions of a needle, allowing for greater comfort and consistency in the timing and quality of samples.

You can read details of the new system on the Wellcome Trust news page.
