Groundbreaking approaches to tackling poverty and getting people off welfare and back into work are to be outlined by top welfare expert and former Clinton adviser Professor David Ellwood of the Harvard Kennedy School in a public lecture in the Wills Memorial Building at 6pm on Friday 23 January.

Groundbreaking approaches to tackling poverty and getting people off welfare and back into work are to be outlined by top welfare expert and former Clinton adviser Professor David Ellwood of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in a public lecture at Bristol University.

The free talk, entitled 'What is beyond Welfare to Work?', will take place in the Wills Memorial Building at 6pm on Friday 23 January.

Professor Ellwood worked with President Bill Clinton on welfare reform and family support and is acknowledged internationally as one of the most influential scholars in his field.  

The lecture is the first in a high-profile series taking place throughout 2009 as part of the University’s centenary celebrations. It is also the first in an ongoing programme of events held by the Bristol Institute of Public Affairs, part of the University’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Law.
