A new programme of swimming lessons for both adults and children (aged five and over) wanting either to learn how to swim, gain confidence or improve their stroke, begins next week at the University of Bristol swimming pool in Clifton.

All lessons are 30 minutes long and taught by experienced Amateur Swimming Association instructors. Children’s swimming classes are termly and priced £4 a week. Classes take place on Monday (slots available from 4 pm to 7 pm) or Wednesday (slots available from 5 pm to 6 pm).

Parents can sign their children up for a three-week introductory course starting every Monday from 28 January. The course costs £12 with a maximum of eight children per class (slots are available between 4 pm and 6.30 pm).

Classes for adults catering for all levels start every Wednesday from 6 February (slots available from 5 pm to 7 pm) and Saturday from 9 February (slots available from 9 am to 12 pm). The six-week course costs £30.

The 33.5m long pool can now be divided in two with the aid of a boom, or partition, to enable swimming lessons to take place without disrupting other swimmers.

The swimming pool is on Queen’s Road, Clifton and is part of the University’s Centre for Sport, Exercise & Health. To book places or for further information, please contact the swimming pool reception tel 0117 954 5803, or email M.Taylor@bristol.ac.uk or visit, www.bristol.ac.uk/sport/swimming/notices.html.
