February digital imaging workshops

A summary of February workshops for staff run by the University’s Technical Advisory Service for Images.

TASI provides advice and training on digital images, from using a digital SLR camera and Photoshop to building an image collection. As a service funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee, TASI supports staff within further and higher education institutions and provides a free helpdesk service (info@tasi.ac.uk).

TASI also runs regular workshops and courses. The following workshops are coming up in February:

Image Capture – Level 1
Provides a theoretical overview of image capture, combined with hands-on exercises with both scanners and a digital SLR camera.
6 February 2008

Image Capture – Level 2
This workshop will teach you how to produce the correct end product for your intended purpose and teach you the easy 'science' of scanning to remove the guesswork from your image capture.
7 February 2008

Beyond Google: Strategies for Finding Images Online
Provides a practical overview of finding and storing quality images from online sources and how to deal successfully with issues of copyright.
15 February 2008

Introduction to Image Metadata
Introduces the issues involved in creating metadata for image collections, through explanation, discussion and practical activities.
22 February 2008

Photoshop – Level 1
Introduces Photoshop’s interface, tools, basic features and commands. Technical theory and explanation will be supported through a range of hands-on activities.
28 February 2008

Photoshop – Level 2
Further develops a working knowledge of Photoshop’s tools and commands for creating and optimising digital images within a practical context.
29 February 2008
