Professor Hall came to Bristol in 1983 as a lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry. He was made a professor in 1998 and head of department two years later. In 2004 he became Dean of Medical and Veterinary Sciences, and has played an increasing role in broader policy formulation for the University.
Professor Clarke said: “Len has achieved great distinction as a scientist, a leader and a manager. I have no doubt that his contribution as a Pro Vice-Chancellor will be equally distinguished and I look forward to working closely with him in support of the Vice-Chancellor and the whole institution.”
Professor Hall said: “It will be a great privilege to follow in David’s footsteps. I have worked at the University for almost 25 years and am deeply committed to its ongoing success.”
Professor Hall’s particular responsibilities as Pro Vice-Chancellor will include personnel and staff development.
