Advancing knowledge in computing and IT

Staff and students are invited to a meeting of the British Computer Society on configuration management on 21 November in The Hawthorns.

The British Computer Society (BCS), through its Bristol branch, regularly holds meetings hosted by the University and open to staff.

BCS is the leading UK body for those working in IT. With a worldwide membership in over 100 countries, it is the qualifying body for Chartered IT Professionals. It aims to promote the study and practice of computing and to advance knowledge of, and education in, IT. Meetings are regularly attended by staff from the Institute for Learning and Research Technology (ILRT) and are of potential interest to technical staff in Information Services and to postgraduate students and lecturers throughout the University.

The next meeting, on ‘Configuration management (How do you cope with change?)’, will take place on Wednesday 21 November at The Hawthorns (refreshments 7 pm for a 7.30 pm start). The speaker is John Metcalfe of Enterprise Solutions and Services. There is a nominal payment of £2 per meeting for non-BCS members (students free).
