We were shocked and saddened to hear that Pete Siwiec, full-time cleaner based in the Medical Building on University Walk, was found dead in his flat on Friday 15 June. Although Pete had been sick for quite a while, everyone was shocked to hear of his sudden death.
Pete commenced with Site Services in August 2003; his first work locations were Chemistry and the Sports Centre. In 2004 Pete moved to Queens and took on the role of Leading Cleaner, he also began working full time. In May 2005 he had another move, this time to Social Science. Pete’s final move happened earlier this year when he moved over to Medical as a full-time cleaner.
Pete loved a party or an event and was one of the staunchest supporters of our Site Services Comic Relief fundraising day, always dressing up and getting into the day 100%; his Blues Brothers outfit complete with soundtrack will always be remembered. Pete liked to be involved and always tried to support others, an example of this being his involvement in the Estates Office Staff Forum.
Pete was a keen pool and skittles player and loved being part of the team.
Pete had been unwell for some time but always planned to return to work as soon as he could. He will be missed by everyone who knew him and will be remembered as a genuinely kindhearted man.
Sadly Pete leaves no family.
