The Department of Mechanical Engineering hosted a visit from Alec Osborn, President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), on 11 May.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering hosted a visit from Alec Osborn, President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), on 11 May. He was joined by Alan King (Regional Manager of the IMechE), Richard Davey and Mark Wolfrey (Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Bath and Bristol IMechE Committee, respectively).

All were warmly welcomed by University staff, including the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eric Thomas, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor David Muir-Wood, and Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Stuart Burgess. The visitors were then given a presentation about the department and a tour of the research and teaching facilities in the faculty, and met a cross-section of Mechanical Engineering students before enjoying afternoon tea. A gift of Bristol Blue Glass was presented to the President on leaving to mark the occasion of his visit.
