This year's Annual Wickham Lecture, entitled Walking with Shakespeare, will be delivered by Dominic Dromgoole, Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe.  The lecture takes place on Thursday 15 March at 5.30 p.m. at the Wickham Theatre.

An abiding love of Shakespeare and his landscape once took Dominic Dromgoole on an eventful pilgrimage from Stratford-Upon-Avon to London, along the same route that Shakespeare would have followed in his day.  From that walk arose a book, Will & Me, and a new job, Artistic Director of the Globe.  Dominic Dromgoole talks of how Shakespeare has walked alongside him through life – a celebratory, instructive and inclusive presence.

Dominic Dromgoole was appointed Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe in 2006, replacing Mark Rylance.  He directed two plays for the 2006 Season: Coriolanus and Antony and Cleopatra.  For the 2007 Season he will direct the Globe’s first production of Love’s Labour’s Lost.  At the end of the season, the Globe is going to Korea for the first time, transferring Love’s Labour’s Lost to the National Theatre of Korea.

The Wickham Lecture is presented jointly with the Society for Theatre Research, in recognition of Professor Glynne Wickham’s contribution to theatre studies in Bristol and world-wide.  Previous Wickham Lectures have been delivered by Professor Dennis Kennedy, Samuel Beckett Professor Drama at Trinity College, Dublin and the director and writer Neil Bartlett.

The Lecture is open to all.  Admission is free.
