Need funding for a project? Try the Annual Fund.

12 March 2007

Do you have a project that needs help with funding? Then the Campaigns and Alumni Relations Office wants to hear from you.

Every year, thousands of Bristol’s graduates, friends and family make generous donations through the Annual Fund. This enables the University to support new initiatives and projects that make a difference to the lives of students and staff on a daily basis.

During 2005-06, the Annual Fund raised over £511,000. This year, the Fund is well on its way to beating last years total. In addition to supporting the University’s many libraries and helping students through bursaries and scholarships, contributions made through the Annual Fund are distributed across the University to a number of projects that are instrumental in helping to improve the learning and working environment at Bristol.

For example, last year the Annual Fund allocated nearly £190,000 to a wide range of new University projects, including:

  • £15,800 for a new Maths Café and interactive area;
  • £8,460 to develop the Students’ Union website;
  • £3,300 to set up an English Reading Group.

You can find more examples of 2005-06 funded projects on the CARO web pages.

The Annual Fund Panel, chaired by one of the University’s Pro Vice-Chancellors, will be meeting in May. The panel invites new funding bids for projects that the Fund can assist this year.

If you have an initiative or project that you believe could be supported by the Annual Fund, please go to www.bristol.ac.uk/alumni/panel for further guidelines and information on what sort of projects are supported and how to submit your bid. Unfortunately the Annual Fund is unable to support research projects.

All applications must be submitted by your Dean (academic staff), or via the Registrar (non-academic).

The deadline for completed applications is Friday 4 May 2007.
