University hosts major public debate

The University of Bristol Multifaith Chaplaincy is hosting a major public debate tonight[Thursday, 1 March] on Does the Christian God exist? Two eminent philosophers will set out the arguments for and against, followed by questions from members of the public.

The University of Bristol Multifaith Chaplaincy is hosting a major public debate tonight [Thursday, 1 March] on Does the Christian God exist? Two eminent philosophers will set out the arguments for and against, followed by questions from members of the public.

Arguing the case ‘for’ is Professor William Lane Craig, Research Professor of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology in California. Arguing the case ‘against’ is Dr Andrew Pyle, Reader in Early Modern Philosophy at the University of Bristol. Chairing the debate is Professor Gregor McLennan, Professor of Sociology at the University of Bristol.

William Lane Craig is in the UK at the invitation of the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship. His tour of nine debates and lectures started in London on Tuesday, 27 February with a debate with Professor Lewis Wolpert on ‘Is God a Delusion?’

The Bristol debate will take place tonight in the Great Hall, Wills Memorial Building, Queens Road, Bristol BS8 1RJ and will start at 7.30 pm. Doors open from 7 pm and admission is free. Bookstall available.
