Innes Cuthill, Professor of Behavioural Ecology in the School of Biological Sciences, is the new President of the
Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour (ASAB), the largest European professional association in this field. Past presidents of ASAB, which was founded in 1936, include Sir John Krebs FRS and Sir Patrick Bateson FRS.
As well as publishing the top technical journal, Animal Behaviour, ASAB has a leading role in promoting the consideration of animal welfare and other ethical issues in scientific research, producing educational material for school level upwards and providing financial support for postgraduate scientists.
