Mr Robert Tuttle, US Ambassador to Britain, visited the University’s two Centres for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETLs) recently, and met members of staff in the Schools of Chemistry and Medical Sciences.

At the School of Chemistry, he talked with three students – postgraduate Zoe Schnepp and undergraduates Sarah Ponting and Adam Sardar – and was introduced to the Bristol ChemLabS CETL by faculty members Dr Paul Wyatt, Professor Nick Norman and Professor Tim Gallagher.

At the Applied and Integrated Medical Sciences (AIMS) CTEL, the Ambassador was shown the teaching facilities in the Physiology Class Laboratory and met ‘Stan’, one of the Human Patient Simulators.

Dr Judy Harris, Dr Eugene Lloyd, Dr Richard Helyer and Peter Dickens explained how Stan is being integrated into the teaching of basic physiology as part of Medical and Veterinary Sciences programmes at Bristol.
