Contractors and their employees are being offered free health and safety advice on working at height at a joint seminar organised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the University of Bristol Health and Safety Office.

This free half-day health and safety awareness event – part of a nationwide Height Aware campaign promoted by HSE and numerous partners – will be held on Tuesday, 12 September, at the University’s Hiatt Baker Hall, Bristol, in two half-day sessions (9.30 am – 12.30 pm or 2.00 – 5.00 pm).

The event aims to raise awareness among managers, supervisors and other workers about the dangers of working at height and to give valuable advice on how to control and prevent those risks. Issues covered will include the legal requirements of the law and how to comply, how to choose the right equipment for the job and the precautions to take in order to avoid slips and trips. There will also be a number of practical demonstrations, including the safe use of ladders and stepladders, and an accompanying exhibition by local suppliers and hire companies of equipment designed to improve safety in the work place.

Places for both sessions are limited but a few spaces are still available.
