Press release issued: 1 January 2005

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act comes into force today [1 January 2005].

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act comes into force today [1 January 2005].  It gives everyone in the world a right of access to information held by Bristol University.  It covers all of the University’s records (electronic and print) whether current or archived, including emails, letters and committee papers.

The University fully supports this increased public access to information, and already publishes a great deal of information on its website.

To request information, email foi-request@bristol.ac.uk

As part of its FOI obligations, the University has produced a Publication Scheme.  This is a list of the specific information the University routinely provides to the public.  Further information about the University’s Publication Scheme is available at www.bristol.ac.uk/foi

The University may be entitled to charge a fee before providing the information requested.
